New release “Maybe 25” retains many of the elements that made us fall in love with Minke: sweeping percussion, soaring guitars, and a chorus that’s at once catchy and classy. That sultry, yearning atmosphere stays true to the undercurrents of sadness found in sophomore release “Armour”, manifesting once again in new musings on contemporary culture. Minke somehow manages to avoid cliché as she laments the distance discovered as technology theoretically brings us closer together than ever.
“It was originally inspired by my fleeting past experiences with online dating,” Minke explains of “Maybe 25”. “As I started to write, it became less and less about that and more a general observation on connection.”
